2) Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull (its plot is basically sci-fi even though the other Indy films are fantasy, though they all have deus ex machina endings)
3) A.I.: Artificial Intelligence
4) Vanilla Sky (don't forget that this movie is simply the American remake of the Spanish film "Abre Los Ojos," or "Open Your Eyes")
5) Signs
6) Back to the Future (the business with the clock tower was kind of a deus ex machina, though it was well integrated into the plot)
7) The City of Lost Children (bizarrely creative French movie from 1995 that includes one very intricate Rube Goldberg-type sequence that is essentially a deus ex machina)
8) Outbreak (I never forgave the movie for its contrived deus ex machina ending)
9) Mars Attacks
10) Contact (I'm not sure the ending of this movie deserves the label "deus ex machina," but it does have elements of one)
11) Brazil (this has what appears to be a deus ex machina sequence, but it is later explained in a different light)
12) 2001: A Space OdysseyDoes anyone know of any science fiction films which could be consider to use deus ex machina?
Dark Star.
